Default Looking to buy used 2006 IS350.

Hi all,
I'm looking to buy a used 2006 IS 350. Are there any commons problem with that model year. I've heard that the front tires wear out every 10K miles, is it true?
Thank you for your information.

Eric

The 2008+ have a little bit more leg room in the rear. There are a few mild facelifts along the way. A lot will depend on your budget. I say buy the best 2is that you can afford, no matter which year.

Only if something is worn out or severely out of alignment.

I researched and got an 08'. Alternator and water pump generally fail 50-70k, rear calipers seize on the slider pins. Some car's have TSB issues, dash an door panels, cam gear.

Do some reading. Lot's of info out there, it's a Toyota so reliability is high. I have fresh plugs, synthetic oils, intake/exhaust mods on stock tune an pull 29.5 mpg at 70. Great cars for the money.

Have a 2006 IS350. Haven't experience front tires wearing out in 10k. Make sure it got all the Recall work done you might want to check the dash and door panels to see if they are sticky (if your lucky previous owner had them replaced). Having to do the dash and door panels out of warranty would knock at least 1.5-2k off the car. There will always be regular maintenance items but something you want to look out for is the tranny (goes for all ISxx). If it is high mileage and the fluid hasn't been taken care of you might have some expensive issues.

Unless you can find a low mileage 2006 IS350 I would try to find a newer IS like a 2010 +.

Don't be scared away by a higher mileage IS350 though; as long as it has been taken care of, it'll be a good car. My '06 IS350 has 111500 miles on it today, and runs like a top!

Front tires don't wear out in 10k miles, unless like was said there are issues with the alignment or bushings. A correct alignment AND maybe the additional of an RR Racing upgraded LCA bushing and housing would easily fix any tire wear issues.

I'm at 170k at on my 06 is350. I bought it with 150k on and all I've had to do is an alternator and a window regulator. Tires are different sizes so you wont be able to swap them like you can on other cars so it'll just depends on how heavy your foot is. Best all around car guy car in my opinion: quick, decent mpg, all the leather pluses. Can't get a better car for the price imo

Just a little bit of info to add ; the tires are staggered so you will not be able to rotate them. The fronts may experience a little more wear on the inner most part of the tire but nothing too crazy.

I wouldnt worry too much about high mileage as long as its been maintained and there isnt a long checklist of things it needs. I have a 2006 IS 350 with 193k and she's going strong. I've replaced the alternator, water pump, a few wheel bearings (I drive it hard) and I'd have no questions about taking it across the country on a road trip.

I have an appointment to get the dash and door panels replaced on Friday as well, it will be like a new car!!
