ML IS350 sub replacement
Anyone try this
db840DVC
Wired as 8 ohm (series) to replace the ML subwoofer 86160-0WD80? I have seen older LS threads mention this, but wanted to know if anyone did this for 2006-2009 IS250/350?
I just did similar research and due to space limitations and the style of that sub, I did a whole different route.
Spent about $1000 total for a single 10, box, 680 RMS watt amp and DM-810 sound processor. My system sounds AMAZING now, so clean and balanced, where before the ML system reminded me of a muffled surround sound system lacking full range sound for music. It has bass now, clarty, and VOLUME. I used ~8 sq ft of Second Skin sound deadening (great stuff) I had left over to do some additional sound deadening. Not a single rattle or squeak in the whole car, so if any of that is suitable for your needs, I did it and was amazed how well it turned out without being invasive and altering a bunch of other things.
Food for thought, probably not an option for everyone but you sound frustrated trying to do an OEM upgrade.

Ordered polk audio 8" (8 ohm capable)
Pulled up hard on top rear panel (screwdriver/pry) and pops right up, didnt have to remove back anything, just headrests... 4 10mm screws holding in woofer and wallah.
it DOES sit an inch too high rear mounted, face down for now, but hey its a start, and w headrests Back in, you dont see the slight cover ~
Going to get double sided weather stripping to put between bottom facing speaker and trunk metal, and figure way to fasten speaker down.
Things will change, just a start to replace fully blown stock.
