My car is a 2007 IS 300 GCC spec'd. The same engine in the IS 350 with slightly smaller bore and with a port injection instead of direct injection.

20w50 IMO is a little thick. I'm in Arizona and run Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 10w30 year round.

I use 10w40 here is Texas. My cars have over 100,000 miles (161,000 kilometers). Our summer temperature usually doesn't exceed 105º F (40º C).

I don't see any logic in running thicker oil than is recommended, certainly not a 50 weight. Thicker oil increases friction and temperatures. Thinner oil will run cooler. However in a racing environment you might need thicker oil to maintain film strength at higher temps. But daily driving around in high temps doesn't warrant oil thicker than recommended.

I think 5W30 is better in any temp.

Default Pennzoil 5W30

Very good oil off of shelf.

Best oil: Redline 5w-30 or Amsoil 5w-30

I can't seem to find an oil that is for high temperatures (like 50) and with a lower viscosity than 20

In the summer it can get to 110° or sometimes reach 115° F.

Summer temperatures over 100F are not uncommon in the southwest of the US. Moreover, engine operating temperatures are controlled by the water pump, thermostat and electric fans so shouldn't be that different in Oman. I'd just use the recommended oil weight in the owners manual (which is probably 0W20 or 5W20).

mobil 1 full synthetic 5w-20 or 0-20w is class V oil (the best I believe) and is patented back in the 70's so no other oil is same. just my 2cents.

We have to get those cooling fans that work on solar power when we leave our cars in the sun

Youre making a lot of sense, I'll probably just use the recommended oil for this car.
