Dash needles out, have question about replacement
For about a year now, both my speedometer and tachometer needles have been slowly losing light. I know this is a long-standing problem, and costly to fix. I've worked a deal out with Lexus to have half the cost paid for. I'm now going to proceed with my dealer. What I am wondering relates to the two needles that are still lit and working fine- the temp and fuel needles. Has there been any known light failures of these? Or is it always the two, longer speedo and tach needles? I'm curious because my fear is when the dealer gets in there to switch things out, the jarring could knock one of the good needles and set them off to their deaths soon after. Then I'd have to have everything removed all over again later down the road. So do these two shorter needles have the same light failures and the two longer ones I'm about to replace? Would it even be wise to have all four done, even though two are working fine now?
Thanks!
Thanks!

You can send it out for repair yourself for $150. Takes about 20-30 to remove the cluster. The vendor I used is a club Lexus vendor. Choose the color(s) you want for the needles

I looked into that early on, but was under the impression you have to ship out your dash parts and be without a car for the duration. No can do.

What I did was purchased a cluster cheap on eBay as a temp while the one I sent out got fixed. Once I got back the original fixed cluster, I resold the temp one. I don't know what the dealer quoted you, but you can get a temp cluster currently on eBay for $69 shipped, use it, then sell it for for about the same. It took less than a week from the time I sent it out till I got it back. Even if you kept the eBay cluster, your total would be under $250 with the original fixed.
