Did ATF flush at that dealer..., what a %$@#$@#$@ !!!
Instead of Toyota ATF WS, they put Valvoline DEXRON III MaxLife ATF, because "that's the only brand they put in all of their cars". Looks like they have a bulk contract with Valvoline to CUT CORNERS.
I only noticed it on the paper afterwards....
The only good thing, that if you have bellow 100K on your car and something happens to the transmission within next 30K miles, Valvoline will cover $2K
And if you have below 50K, the'll cover up to $4K....
And it's a Lexus dealership, so be aware before the flush.

I know, that's what happens when you assume that World’s Largest Lexus Dealership will use Toyota liquids, but THAT'S NOT THE CASE..!!!

I understand they use Valvoline on their NON-Lexus/Toyota trade-ins, but Lexus cars??!!!

I could maybe, maybe, understand using a non-genuine fluid of the same type, but to use a different type of fluid (Dex-III) in place of WS is unacceptable. I would be calling Lexus USA to make a complaint and have them remove my transmission to drain the fluid from the torque converter and case. Dexron III is not the same or similar to WS.

I wonder if using digital kitchen food thermometer would do the trick...???
Undo the fill bolt and feed thermometer probe inside the transmission pan until it's submerged in the fluid.
Read the temp....
I'm guessing the thermometer probe would need to be somewhat flexible and not get trapped on something inside.
That actually might work and give correct temperature reading without spending hundreds of dollars on one time use gadgets.
Just throwing the idea out there, lol

To properly check the fluid level. When doing transmission fluid change, the fluid needs to be in a specific heat range (between 104F and 113F). Too hot or too cold and your level will be off.

This device is unneeded, since the car already has a built-in way of telling you when you're at temp to check and refill fluids. Process starts near 4:30, but worth watching the entire thing.
Hey guys, I am debating whether or not to do a transmission drain and fill. My car is currently at 177k miles and no transmission problems. I've read multiple threads and it seems the opinion is 50/50 on doing a drain and fill.
My thoughts:
1) Don't mess with something that isn't broken. Introducing new fluid will cause some sort of problem.
2) Drain and fill to add new fluid to give transmission protection.
I know you only get a small amount of old fluid from a drain and fill and some people say to repeat in XXXX miles. For people who have done the drain and fill, please input your experience. I read on another forum to get the temp of the transmission fluid for draining excess, you short out 3 ports on the OBD with the SST 09843-18040. Has anyone bought this tool? It's about $50. Or did yall just use jumper wires?
I have a 2014 LS460L AWD. I periodically hear a noise from rear area below rear seats when driving at highway speeds. It is not there all the time and goes away when I speed up or slow down. Is this the same issues? Is the 2014 subject to this same issue. I got mine new from Dealer in late 2014
