Lexus IS350 power?
Hi, I was just curious I just drove my Aunts 2001 Mercedes E430 I was really impressed by how it accelerated it was able to push me back in my seat. With it only having about 260 pound ft of torque. But it's V8 of course. Now I'm planning on purchasing a 2008 Lexus IS350 w/ about 280 torque, would it feel the same? Or is it just numbers
The 0-60 times on that benz is about 7 seconds |
Ours is gonna be faster. Lighter too

wickedly quick off the line, the IS will make your Benz feel old tech. i remember reading a comparison test where Car and Driver called the IS350 "the silent horsepower king" and rightfully so

I just bought a 2008 IS 350 a few weeks ago. I was amazed by how much the engine pulls. You will love it.

0-60 in 4.8sec.. enough said.

Would a V8 have lower torque than a V6? The car is kinda old. The IS350 have a little bit of push to the seat feeling, but not a lot compare to a BMW 335 with a turbo.

^Add turbos to an IS350 and tell me it doesn't "push to you back"! ;)

on the NADA website the e430 lists as 4.3L Gas V8275 @ 5750 RPM295 @ 3000-4400 RPM
so i think that it will be a dead ringer for the 2008 is350 even though it has about 20 more lb/ft of torque. the MB only weighs about 100lb more so it should be nearly identical as far as torque feeling. But the is 350 has a much better chassis for the turns. |
I'm not sure about how it will actually feel in comparison, as I've never been in one and a lot of that feel has to do with torque, weight, gearing, among other things. But in a race, an E430 will be stuck watching IS350 taillights diminishing off into the distance. All signs point to not even close.
