Default New owner - love so far; tires, check-engine light?

Hello,

I picked up my 2013 Lexus IS250 AWD with 26,344 miles on Monday. The ride is great; perfect sized car for myself. I drive a lot .... 25,000-30,000 miles a year, and the low miles, reliability, etc has me excited. I traded in a 2007 Pontiac G6 with 157,000 miles (I bought in 2011 with 20,400 miles on it). (for 2 years, I had a company vehicle which allowed me to drive this just on the weekends).

As excited as I am about this car, I am a bit concerned that the check engine light came on yesterday. It is still under factory warranty, and the dealership i bought it from (a Volvo dealership) is working with me to make sure things get resolved. I've only driven it for a few days, so hard to tell you what sounds normal and not, but the engine sounds fine. I thought there was a tiny bit of rattling the two days, but it may have been the strong wind gusts while I was driving, as I didn't notice it on the slower roads. And I did check the gas cap. Any thoughts? I am bringing it in tomorrow.

Second, the car has michelin a/s on it I believe; what is the tire that will get me the most mileage?

Thanks,

Jeff

Not yet. Should I stop at an Autozone?

Get the codes pulled.

As for tires, I've only had Nitto Motivo since I've owned the car and I've gotten over 30,000 miles per set. I wouldn't recommend them due to the weak sidewalls in the fronts. The most important thing is to check your tire pressure every 2 weeks and inflate them to the proper pressure. I go to Discount tire and get my tires aired up for free.

Red face

Nevermind. I overreacted. I read the manual last night; I mistakened the tire pressure light for the check engine line. Which was caused because I was pressing all kinds of buttons in the car without reading. Sorry, first day excitement of my first Lexus (and first new to me car in 6 1/2 years).

I also realized that as an AWD vehicle, the tires can be rotated because they are the same size.
