Default Blown headgasket? Lots of air coming out of the coolant

I was low on coolant because I changed my transmission last weekend. After filling and burping it for 30 minutes I continued to see a steady stream of tiny bubbles coming out of the funnel, and big bubbles came out when I revved the engine with and without load.

I ran a search and didn't find many other situations of blown headgaskets, so it doesn't appear common to me. I capped it and will do a combustion gas test tomorrow, but I was hoping to get any info from you guys if this is in deed an issue that is fairly common?

I don't think its common. You probably still have bubbles in the system. Take it for a drive up and down the street and park it with the nose up.

I'm a mechanic by trade, own a custom Toyota shop. I hope you're right because this is just a commuter, I don't want to wrench on it if I don't have to.

Bleed it again after it warms up. You'll have to do the combustion gas test to be certain, but considering you're in WA? It's kind of cold and you want the engine hot hot. Used to take me 30 minutes to bleed my BMW as well and did it again the day after until I saw no more bubbles.

And I'm sure you're aware you need the heater core open and on full blast max heat, just throwing that out there.

One additional thing I've been told when bleeding is to slighty tilt the front-end up. Everything else UnderCover said is exactly what I'd do.

I really doubt its a headgasket. I have never heard of one failing. Minor, but try replacing the radiator cap too. They basically implode after a few years and fall apart

^That is a valid point. MANY members have stated theirs having fallen apart AND pieces logged inside.
