Default My thoughts on my IS 6MT (so far)

Likes: 1) pretty good ride, no LS, but good-taut but never choppy
2) good seats, coming from a Tacoma TRD..anything is better
3) velvety smooth engine...yes I said that
4) typical Lexus build quality, esp interior
5) pretty good MPG...got 30.9 mpg driving back from Nashville. Some stop and go and alot of hills

Surprises:
1) Manual shifter does NOT suck, its not like my old Miata...nothing really to gripe about
2) Getting alot of turned heads, locally, even though its 10 y/o
3) Stops are short and drama-free
4) Good acceleration (not great) w/6 speed... more than adequate (it will out run a mid 90's 7 series 0-60)

Dislikes:
1) Penalty box back seat leg room
2) No seat heat/AC or garage door opener
3) Shifter location interferes w/bottles in cupholder and some controls, no big

Overall I'm happy, kinda wish I had found a higher trim IS, but finding a decent one w/a manual is hard enough

So my score 8.5/10

Interesting on the shifter review. I thought it sucked compared to my older cars (integra gsr/nsx). Would love to see if you drove one with the fsport short shifter, because that is when I found that it was damn near perfect

Maybe its a Mississippi thing, I cant imagine 2IS or even 3IS turning any heads anywhere

Assuming from your old posts, you have a 2007, so HomeLink buttons should be on the bottom of your mirror to program your garage door with. Pretty sure that was standard across all options/trims for the IS.

+1. Never ever seen anyone turning heads at a 2IS. An S4 or 335i with an exhaust, maybe.

I agree, the shifter isn't as bad as I've read though I liked the IS300 5mt transmission better. Also wish it had heated seats, but you take what you can get, which unfortunately isn't much for manual transmissions anymore.

Somewhere I found the silver pedals for the is250 that the is300 had. If I could only find the ball shift ****...

I'm glad you like the shifter.
I personally don't like, especially compared to my 2017 Miata RF shifter.
IS250 shifter feels like it came from a truck (loose and very long shifting with very sensitive clutch that doesn't engage quickly).

I recommend checking out this thread. Greatly improves how the clutch disengages/engages! Also an inexpensive and easy modification.
