Hi guys, I currently have a BMW 530i that's having a lot of problems. There's a nice IS250 2009 at my local jeep dealer. It's got 114k miles and is around $9,000. So my question to you guys is, do you think it's worth it to buy that car with 114k miles, or am I facing a mountain of service and repair costs? Also it has navigation and a backup camera.

IS350. My friend. Wont regret it. 250s are typically ok but there are more bad apples amongst them.

Check mylexus site with the car vin and check for maint work.

Most will tell you get a 350. Ive had both and dont mind my 250.

If you're worried about expensive maintanence, you don't have to worry with these cars. In general they are reliable cars

Not any more. The 250 had several engine design deficiencies. Other issues are creeping into every Lexus sold since about 2000. Lexus product quality and customer service are going downhill fast.

Toyota in general. They only have to perform slightly better than the other guys to maintain a reputation as being better. Toyota was legendary for quality and dependability but with modern tech and the incredible amount of electronics being introduced each model year, gone are the days of indestructible vehicles.

It would have been laughable 20 years ago to even consider discussing problems with a Toyota/Lexus that only had 100k on it.

We've all seen this happening especially in the last 8-10 years. I think it's exponentially changing for the worse.

It's funny, my friend with a 530i has many issues as you. The car is overheating now and can't drive past 5 miles. Before that, the sunroof was leaking. Before that, many many other issues.

The is250 compared to the bimmer will be much more reliable. But yeah I'd look at a is350 as the 250 has engine sludge problems.
