Changed battery - now radio/AC won't work
I changed my battery out yesterday - stock one had been going bad. Replacement went smooth with no issues, car starts fine, but now I notice that my radio/AC control doesn't work or respond when the buttons are pressed.
It's an '06, non-nav - the screens where both the climate control and radio status are displayed are backlit, but there is no text. No buttons seem to do anything. Any ideas? Tried searching around, but only found problems described with navigation-equipped vehicles. Checked the fuses, disconnected battery terminal, etc... no fix so far. |
Did you check the fuse box under steering wheel and passenger side as well
|
It's weird - I've checked (and rechecked) every fuse, under the hood, and in both the driver and passenger side. All fuses are good.
When I power up the accessory, the backlighting for the display for the AC panel as well as the radio panel lights up, but there are no numbers, text, etc. The buttons for the AC control do not do anything, but I can switch the radio on/off and switch sources, I just don't have anything whatsoever displayed. |

Did you figure it out? |
OK,
what you have to do is. 1. completely removed your navigation unit (i bet you have message "external system is not connected ..." 2. plug it back in (but don't put everything back together yet) and turn on ACC - everything will be working fine again but as long as you start your car the problem will com back 3. Don't panic, you have to remove your unit once more time - first time for NAV, A/C, and Radio initialize and linked all together - and reconnect it. 4. Reset your ECU - removing negative terminal for about 30 second only- your unit will be fully working again. PM me if you need more help! |
^^^^^^ Huh??? Why doesn't just disconnecting battery (twice?) work???
|
Im having a similar problem.... the whole top half of the navigation screen and buttons have no power... just the clock, hard and security blinker work.... all the fuzes are ok... will this work for mine?

Kinda weird but trust me! I've been through it already. Disconnect the battery won't help in this case. First, you have to clear all the store power out of the head unit.

Boys could be that the entire head unit died.
Mine died in September (08 is350 with factory nav 65,000 miles). A lot of guys have been reporting their units have died within the last few months. Aftermarket unit ran me $600 CAD. used OEM was $450. I saw no point in buying a used one. My unit is pretty much an Andriod tablet with all the features of modern car. |

When I turn the key to the accessory position without starting the car the head unit and speakers work normally. But when I start the car the head unit continues to function normally but no sound comes out of the speakers any ideas? |
