Something dropped from my IS 250.. Bye bye 250.
My IS has had a protestant problem that others have been having for years, see here. Well lately i have been hearing this same noise as I press the accelerator but only for a short period of time. Well today I was going to pass a car and all hell broke lose.
As I accelerated I heard a loud clank noise followed by my engine turning off, I was going about 80MPH in the other lane trying to pass a car with a semi in front of me, when this happened, easily I along with the three other people in the car could have been killed.
I checked under my car and cannot see anything missed placed, but what I did notice is that oil is coming from beside the oil pan, which is a clear sign this isnt good.
My question is, does anyone have any idea what could have happened and could it be linked to one of these recalls ? The noise I heard before the drop was just like the noise I hear at a cold start mentioned in the first paragragh.

How often do you do maintence. if you see oil it could be many things like gasket blew, an oil line could have popped, or could just be engine blew. were you able to turn the cr on and drive it again?

That noise is the cam gear or something, I guess there was a TSB for it in the 350, but never the 250. My service advisor says he's had a few in at the dealer and they have been doing it for years with no issues. Your chain could have snapped, but I doubt it. I hate to ask, but like someone else said how have you been in terms of maintanence on the car? Also how many miles, there's a ton of variables so we need to know as much as we can to help
