PSA: DIY Replacing/Programming New TPMS Sensors
There is definitely a way to program two sets of tire TPMS sensors in Techstream, but I don't remember the details since it's been forever since I had access to my car lol. I know the tire reset button on the IS inherently allows two sets of tires, so there definitely should be a way to program two sets into the car's computer.
After reading throughout CL forums that techstream would be required and visually reading s/n of each OEM sensor, I took the opportunity to ask my local NTB shop during a commercial vehicle repair if they had the capability to program my secondhand wheel and OEM sensors to my 2007 Lexus ES350. He said yes but I was skepticle and wanted to try it on my own with my Techstream.
Month's later and having just replaced my alternator I wanted all the warning lights off on my dash so I stopped by the same NTB and they came out with their Bartec Tech400 that was taken to each of the sensors starting with the front driver's and circulationg the car in a clockwise manner to each wheel saving the spare for last. I set the TPMS switch under the glove box to position2 as I will use my old wheels (position1) for winter wheels. Then the tech connected to the ODB-II connector and sent the info back to the ECU. I fired up the motor and was made a believer.
No charge for his 5 minutes and I am a happy camper with no more warning lights.
I hope that this share is helpful.
