Default 2007 in need of OEM HID headlight replacements

Its time, they keep turning off, having a mind of their own. What is the best brand for the OEM HID look from Lexus, or maybe perhaps a slight brighter look, also what about the same to color match replacements for the DRL and perhaps foglights...Thanks for any feedback.

The DRL are your high beams running at low power, that's why they're yellowish. There's only a few options to rid yourself of that. You can use LEDs but then you lose your high beams which I wasn't willing to give up. I just disabled them via techstream.

For the the low beam HID, I went with Garax 6k and LED foglight bulbs. They match great and look way better than the mismatch of the factory setup. I haven't had any issues with that bulb, I've been running them in my '06 for about 2 years now. They are just slightly bluer than the factory lights and seem less blue than many 6k I've seen.

There is also another little 168/192 style wedge bulb in the headlight, I also changed those to an LED. Here is mine with the Garax bulbs, LED fogs and LED parking lights.

The first picture is just of the LED parking lights, with the DRL disabled. The second picture is with low beams, fogs and parking lights on.

I replaced my OEM HIDs with OSRAM CBI (cool blue intense) bulbs from XenonDepot last November. They are rated at 5000k, which is just a bit whiter than original 4300k Philips XenECO 42402 that came in the car when new. Usually moving to a whiter/bluer bulb means giving up some intensity, but the CBI is unique in that they are as bright or brighter than 4300k bulbs. (Not surprisingly, MUCH brighter than my 10 year old ones) I would definitely give them a thumbs up.

I replaced my OEM HID bulbs with DDM Tuning's Ultra D4S bulbs and have not had an issue with them turning off since I've replaced them.

I highly recommend the Morimoto D4S bulbs from https://www.theretrofitsource.com/. Bought a pair over a year ago and they are a lot brighter than the XenonDepot ones I bought awhile back.

You might have a bad ballast.
Philips ultinon 6k are probably the best bulbs I've used on my is350.

How do you determine a bad bulb vs bad ballast? starting simple with new bulbs? Ive seen some youtube videos of people needing to remove and unglue/take apart the whole headlight to replace ballast...is this true?

If you were to get true Highbeam bulbs 9005, which ones would you recommend that match your light setup you have?

By taking action when only one side is giving you problem. Then you would swap the bulbs, and if the problem jumps to the other side, you know it is the bulb, otherwise it is the ballast.

And no, you don't need to take apart the whole headlight to replace the ballast; you only need to remove the connector from the ballast, snake the wire through, and replace the connector.

That is the typical failure mode of an HID bulb. They will fire up, then shut off after a little bit. You can usually turn them off and back on and they will fire up again, only to shut off again later. Just do like Bichon said, swap the bulbs from one side to the other and see if the issues follows the bulb. Mine did the same thing when the bulbs started to go.

I put one new bulb in and left passenger with stock HID light, and within 20 mins the new driver side light with Morimoto turned off...so I turned off then back again..
