Exclamation Transmission clunk && steering wheel squeal

Most of the times when i shift gears to reverse (park to reverse, drive to reverse both) there is a very noticeable clunk which sounds like is coming from the rear of the car. kind of embarrassing. also i know my rear shocks are leaking, not sure if that attributes to this problem.

also another issue, when i drive at a slow rate (5-10mph) and press the brake and turn the steering wheel left or right a bit it makes a sequeling noise that sounds like its coming from the steering wheel. this does not happen all the time and i just recently noticed it start happening but that may be due to me playing music pretty loud whenever im in my car

car has 153k, 2006 is250
any ideas on either issue? thank you!

Does the noise from the trans happen only when you park on a hill?

Loosen the front lug nuts, jack up your car, remove the wheel, inspect the brake pads...especially the harder to see inner most pad. Alot of pads now come with a wear indicator that will scrape the rotor when worn below safe. Also check that the brake dust shield is not hitting the rotor. Lastly, check everything in the suspension; check to see the ball joint is not popped out the UCA.

Good luck!

noise happens when i park on flat surfaces like a parking lot too. i will check the pads, but not sure how to check the suspension or dust shield as i have no clue what the dust shield is lol

Do you have any CELs? If so, have your local auto parts store pull them and let us know what they are.

no cel - when i took the car to a local transmission shop a week or two ago they said if there's no cel there isn't a major problem and to come back when it threw a code. they wouldn't even put my car on a lift. im trying to fix this problem before it creates more (and is more costly to fix) if possible

The ONLY thing I can think of is perhaps an issue with the shifter linkage itself, since the trans seems to operate fine once in gear AND no codes.
