PAVGR: Is your car automatic now, or is it standard? Do you want it to be automatic or standard after the swap?

Don't know if this helps, but many of the 1UZ V8 guys have successfully swapped in the W58 manual transmission using the automatic 1UZ ECU. If you search the SC section, you'll find dozens of threads. From what I remember, late model 1UZ VVTI's needed a switch to toggle from Park to Drive in order for the car to start and drive/rev correctly. Good luck!

That does kind of make sense, though I have a feeling on the even newer setups like what's in the 2IS, even that wouldn't make the ECU happy.

4GR-FSE successfully removed. Now to swap over any parts that I want to keep onto the used engine and need to finish modifying the engine-side of the wiring harness for the manual transmission. My attempts to find a larger clutch disc that would fit the 4GR pressure plate and flywheel have failed (had hoped a 7M-GTE/1JZ-GTE clutch disc or 5VZ-FE clutch disc would work, they don't), so I will be sticking with a stock-sized 236mm clutch disc.

Of note: the RA62 is in reality, quite a large transmission.

Good job Jeff!I guess now the difficult part is,but I believe you have everything figured out how to move on.My car is manual Jeff like yours and I want it to stay manual .Actually Danny asked 8500 Australian dollars to send everything I will need for this swap including VDIM ecus (which confirmed I will need since my car is 06).I don't understand some things he is telling me about the transmission and the ecu but if I add the shipping cost and the custom charges perhaps that's the end of my dream
Of course I don't want to give up my dream mod so I m looking forward to your swap also and I ll see!!!

What was he saying about the transmission and ECU? Maybe I can clarify it for you.

Pricing wise, that doesn't sound super unreasonable to be honest.

We talked again today and Danny told me that he meant all the 350 parts and I ll reuse my manual transmission. He told me that I have to send the Ecu for reflas and added 3000 Australian dollars more.Thats 11500 aud without shipping cost, custom and mechanic payment.
I want to ask you Jeff if the GS450 has the same engine as the 350 because we have this car in Europe only this is hybrid.

You would be able to use a GS450h engine, however you would likely need/want to get an IS350 RHD engine harness to match the IS, as the GS harness will be very different. Most of the other parts that are different can be reused from your IS250 engine.

Also the GS450h would need to be from a 2006-2011, the newer GS450h has the 2GR-FXE engine and not the 2GR-FSE.

You will need the computer from a non-hybrid. You won't be able to use the GS ECU.

In North America, the 2007 GS350 don't have VDIM, so possibly using an ECU from a 2007 GS350 would be a better answer as it would be for the 2GR-FSE without VDIM. 2008+ have VDIM.

I remembered someone mentioned about the LuK clutch disc but I am not sure if it's larger or not...

There's only a tiny bit of room for a larger clutch, which would fit, but the inner diameter of the pressure plate isn't large enough to clear it. It's not a huge deal.

Now on to the good part, looking over the engine when I got it, I noticed a few things that looked pretty clean, but didn't think too much about it other than it looked like the heads had likely been rebuilt at one point or another. But looking at it again today, it looked like the timing cover (which I was planning on swapping from my old engine) had been recently replaced, which was interesting, and upon closer inspection it looks like the shortblock has also been replaced relatively recently, as indicated by both it's cleanliness and the fact that it has no engine number stamped on the block.

So it looks like this was a very good find for a used engine, a lot of new parts going on up in here.

Good for you Jeff, you have to be lucky with a used engine! So our manual transmission fit directly to the 2GR-FSE engine without any modification?Have you send the Ecu for reflash in Japan?
