Man, I must really beat my car, I'm lucky to get 17 MPG (all city driving) in the summer months and 13 MPG in the winter.

What speed were you driving on the freeway that could make a huge difference

I remember my 06' IS hasn't go above 18, but I rarely do freeway drive, and I drive little bit faster than others

My current IS is even worse lol, averaging 16 on my dial, city driving 99% and road ain't flat for me for my daily qoute

Does having it on "Snow mode" actually improve gas mileage?

Not really that much, Snow mode is just like starting the car in motion in 2nd gear, and will reduce throttle responsiveness a bit to prevent spinning, not going to make a hug difference in MPG; the new ECO mode will have more noticeable difference.

Snow mode is awesome for a bumper-to-bumper traffic jam; it makes it much easier to drive smoothly.

Keep in mind I'm in Canada, so the computer reads L/100km. My average thus far according to my readout is 7.6 L/100km, or roughly 31 MPG US. Now, calculating it out based on full/reserve warning cycles, I've figured out that its...uhm, optimistic. I get roughly 1L/100km less when I calculate it out, which at 7.6 (8.6 actual) works out to about 28 MPG. I think most owners will find theirs off that amount if they stop to figure it out. I've seen as low as 5.9 L/100km (pulled onto a level 80km/hr or 50 MPH zone straight off the gas station lot), or about 37 MPG calculated. On that trip I ended up driving 800km on a mere 60 litres of fuel (a calculated 7.5 L/100km or roughly 31 MPG). That trip included spending roughly half the time on the 401/11 north doing between 110-120 km/h (roughly 70-75 MPH)

OH YEA forgot to mention, my car is a 6MT. So at 75 MPH the engine is wound up to 3000 rpm. Don't know where Lexus gets their EPA numbers, but my AVERAGE is what the pure highway cycle is supposed to be.

I have the hybrid and I'm also not getting the mileage was hoping for/expecting. The EPA estimate is 45 and many reviews said it does pretty good at getting that. Even keeping it in Eco mode, cruise control set at 70mph and mostly freeway driving after 10 fill-ups I'm getting just under 41mpg. I was really hoping for like 43mpg average.

I know this post is as old as the hills but....

In snow mode the car takes off in 2nd gear which although geared super low (1st), typically is not the best on for auto trans...
