Default Rain Sensing Wipers...rock chip

It is my understanding that the sensor for the rain sensing wipers is the rectangle to the left in my picture. To the right you can see a small rock chip. Is it safe to get this chip filled? I just don't want to harm the rain sensor at all.

Thanks!

I'd not even mess with that small chip.

I'd like to ignore it, but with our winters here the moment the temperature drops that small chip could do anything. And I just replaced my windshield... Really don't feel like paying for that again so soon.

I'd actually talk to the windshield experts (local glass/windshield shop) and see what they say before anything.

I have so many chips that size from semi trucks its insane. Just waiting for "the one" to crack to all so I can get insurance to cover most of a new OEM one.

Is there much difference between what the replacements are and OEM? The reason I'm asking is, I believe Safelite says their replacements are OEM?

Replacement and OEM, NOT the same. Safelight is probably the last place I'd use to replace a windshield
