Default Q50s vs 2is IS350?

Hey guys, sorry if this is the wrong place to put this thread but I was just wondering if any of you have any experience with the new Q50's?

I had a little encounter with one tonight on the way home. I gave my car (2006 is350) a little gas to get in front of this car on the other Lane and he started following me till we got to a stoplight. However he was behind me at the red light so when the light turned green I jumped out and over to the lane next to me so we could line up and do a roll race (out of pure curiosity lol). Anyway as soon as I jump over he gets next to me and instead of honking it off or signaling when to go he just takes off on me... So. By the time I decide to mash the throttle he's already a good 3 cars ahead of me, now to my surprise, however, I actually start catching him till I'm close to his rear fender but at this point we've already hit 100+ and since i'm not looking to die anytime soon I let off lol. But here's the thing... When we had gotten to that 100mph point I noticed my car couldn't pull him any longer and we were even but with him starting to pull very very slightly. Of course I know our short gears have almost everything to do with it but still I can't help but wonder what the outcome would have been if we had both started evenly instead of him getting the jump... . Anyway so that's my little story to share with you fine folk here on the forum.

Anybody have any similar experiences with q50's? Or anybody know anyone that has one or has seen them run the 1/4? The one I "raced" was a q50s if that helps. Also my car is a sport package 06 is350.

Disclaimer : All events took place somewhere in Mexico.

According to Car and Driver:

Zero to 60 mph: 4.9 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 13.5 sec @ 104 mph

I've driven one and have owned '11 IS350. IMO, Its a close race between them. I believe the IS350 has better take-off but the Q50 has better mid to high end power and better hwy gear. Its pretty much a driver's race. I think going above 100 is more in favor for the Q50.

Hmm well that would make sense at least according to my experience.

I couldn't get a fair start though. :/

From the Death stop, you could beat them but not on rolling race (they are 7 speed)

I have never been a fan of many (if any)) Infinitis. With that said, I've loved the look of the Q50 from the first time I saw one. Get on YouTube and search Motor Trend channel's Q50 vs. IS. It is hosted by Johnny Leiberman and he is my favorite. Funny as hell and knows what he's talking about. Good vid.....

Here it is

Speed wise both are about the same. One isn't going to be noticabally faster than the other. We are in sport sedan class of vehicles. These cars are Luxory vehicles with a little pep. If you want speed I suggest you get something that was designed with that in mind.

I'm going to enjoy my IS350 for what it is....... a fine Luxory automobile. So far I'm thinking of only doing suspension/handling upgrades. All will be Fsport as I'd like to keep it composed and civil on the road. It will be my family car & DD.

Drive one!

The Q50S steering sucks - wont even go in a straight line without steering input

I have to agree with one point. I am not a fan of the 3IS exterior look. I don't like the grill in the least, and they have added a bunch of creases in the metal that I think detract from the look. They're probably trying to separate from the field, and let's face it, there are a LOT of cars that look similar to the 2IS from the rear and sides, but I prefer the rounder body panels on the 2IS.

Didn't Leiberman's 1/4 mi. in the IS seem a little slow?

hole shot, id give it to the IS. highway pull im pretty sure the q50 would take the lead. never drove a q50, but having driven a g37xs, the 3.7 feels very stout. so from a roll, definitely the q50

I owned 2014 IS350 fsport and now i have 2012 ISF .... I raced Q50S with headers, exhaust , intake and some tune from Stilen the guy claimed 330whp and i also raced couple IS350s i would say IS350 faster off the line as when i raced 350 with ISF the 350 got fender ahead in 1st, because 1st in ISF is a dog , but *** soon as the car gets past 1st it would pull away, i ran 13.1 those days, it was almost 90 degrees down in FL and the 350 with intake and axle back would run 13.7 , the Q50S stayed on my rear fender up to 3rd gear then i started pulling away, getting 13.1 again and he ran 13.4 , so i guess it all depense on if u go from dead stop, from roll , what gear, speed and rpm range u start .... Its tricky on the street .....

In case anyone isn't aware, zeroto60times.com is a fantastic site for reference when looking at 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.I use it frequently when I see or read about a car and am curious. Here is the Lexus page..........

http://www.zeroto60times.com/vehicle...-60-mph-times/

And here is the page for Infiniti
