Default Bought D4S 6K Hid Bulbs Have A ?

I have a 2006 Is250. With factory hids. I wanted change out my stock 4300k hid for a white with a hint of blue color. I got bulbs off MaxLux found them on Amazon.. Got the bulbs today installed them, I've seem to lose visibility and they seem dim on the pavement.. I have 6k hids for the fogs, which over power these lights like crazy, there's a big difference when I have my fogs on they seem to give more output then these D4S bulbs I got.

Question is could I have got a cheapo hid bulbs? Or are hids in the fog lights always brighter than the projectors? And could you recommend a good place to buy the bulbs I'm looking for thanks!

You will need Philips D4S bulbs if you don't want to lose visibility.

After going through many HID bulbs..I realized it's one thing you don't want to go cheap on. They're dim and they'll probably burn out within a year. Pay for top-notch quality like Philips like Nigel said and you won't regret it.

^Agreed. There are certain things you don't cheap out on and safety equipment is definitely one of them. Phillips are awesome unless you have Bruce Lee reflexes and can swerve away of things in the road.

Amazon and ebay are hit and miss with a lot of things... bulbs being one. Go through a trusted vendor here for your bulbs. I bought Philips Ultinons from Nigel a couple years ago and they were amazing. 5k is the sweet spot imo.

I appreciate the replys guys, I'll probably end up going with the Philips Ultinon 6200k.. but it seems like they worked a long time for you guys, and I'd you loose or gain visibility? Thanks

The Ultinons are on the higher price end but provide insane output. I had the 6k and wished I would have waited for the 5k. I spoke with Nigel awhile back and he said the 6200k are actually a nicer output than the 6k You'll get the output you're looking for but not sure if they will match the fogs. Nigel also has the wedge bulbs to match the Ultinons pretty close.

If you buy authentic bulbs they will last plenty long. I kept mine on all the time just cause I paid so much for them lol. Even now I don't use my drls... i just keep the headlights on.

So you're saying that the 5k bulbs are the closest to OEM output but a little whiter, right?

I'm sure my bulbs are gonna go out soon....so I have been researching bulbs the last week so I can buy whatever immediately after they go out.

I know the OEM ones are like 4200k....and I am fine with them. I do a LOT of night driving (I drive 30k miles/year for work) and want the brightest illumination; i don't care about blue color.

yeah I think you'd be happy with 5k quality bulbs. They are white and a noticeable diff over oem. 6k looks nice at first... but with you doing a lot of night driving you'd be much happier with 5k imo. I had those Ultinons in a LS430 setup so it was still plenty nice. But I'd still go 5k forever
