Default oil catch filter (sorry for repeat thread)

Hey guys.

Sorry for repeat thread, but cant get an answer when i posted on already existing thread on this topic.

07 IS250 81k miles, south GA (incase that matters)

Ok the big question is, do I need to install one? no record of this problem being fixed by lexus. I already have the melting dash problem =(

Obviously my car is out of warranty, and not looking to running into the trouble for the next few years. havent stumbled onto information about this issue are higher miles.

thanks for being patient with me! =)

The carbon build up TSB has been extended to 9 years. That means if your car exhibits the symptoms and Lexus can replicate them they will do the TSB even if your regular warranty expired. This only applies if you have a clean title I think (no salvage/rebuilt).

Some members suggest that going WOT helps get all the gunk off the valves, this has been discussed in depth here:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-second-generation/484055-lexus-4gr-fse-engine-carbon-build-up-merged-threads.html

I personally want to install a catch can but am waiting until my car has the TSB done, if it ever has to. As long as it's not causing me any problems currently I will leave it alone.

I've only had my car for 10 months now and I bought it at 44k but I installed the catch can. Haven't had any issues before the install and haven't after either. Maybe it will help but I like having some peace of mind. I haven't emptied it out yet as i'm waiting for a full oil change interval first.

I have an 07 IS250 at 114k miles. So far no problems or signs of carbon build up. But I'm kinda hoping I do get it before that extended warranty expires. That way I can get some brand new pistons lol. Only then, I would install the catch can.

I have an 07 too and no issues, no catch can. I won't install one until the warranty expires. It would be nice to have some free work done before the 9 yrs end.
