Default What parts of the 60k service do you really need?

So I bought this 2008 IS250 RWD at 60k and I thought the first owner did the service all along. Anyways fast forward 6000 miles later. I just called in for a quote and they're asking $1250 (Lexus of Stevens Creek) and there's no way I'm going to pay that much. So in reality, since I have an IS250, do I just need to replace the spark plugs (b/c of carbon build up issue) and flush the brake fluids. Any other fluids I should flush? Oil change has just been done 1000 miles ago. I know you're not supposed to tell them to do the whole service package b/c I can do some of them by myself or bring to another shop for a cheaper quote.

Okay, here is what happened with our 08 IS250 purchased last year at 52k : after checking service records thru the Lexus website, and finding only minor work was done at 30k, I decided to do the plugs myself at 59k. Went well, although the one side involves R&R a plenum. No problems until a 900 mile road trip noticed hesitation during acceleration. Searched this forum, found the recall info, took it to Sewell Lexus - Plano (Dallas) They pulled the engine, replaced pistons, rings, etc, cleaned intake, etc. (about $4000) BUT it was covered 100% under the recall warranty !!! oh yeah, they wanted to change the plugs again for parts cost only, lol. I said skip it, but they did talk us into a new water pump for $186. We now have 70k on it, runs better, and the warranty is supposed to last for 9 yrs from in service date & unlimited miles. The service rep told me if it EVER has any more issues to just bring it back ! We'll drive it till it forever I hope.

There are three type of 60K. The quote price above is the premium one. I have my local freeman Lexus look into it, and they gave me three different type of services. I don't happened to have the print out in front of me, but the basic one start out $400 or $600 something. Not only three type of service, now they do mix and match the service that you ask them to do. If you can wait, I will scan those services print out from them and post it in here. Lexus of Steven creek try to rip you off. I hate that kind of advisor. If you want call freeman Lexus in Santa Rosa, ca and ask for Paul, he is one of the advisor which help me to customize my 60K service. This is a new program service which they can select a certain service base on your choices.

You are correct in that all you'll need are the spark plugs and brake fluid.

You can also have them do the filters (both engine and cabin) if you want, but I suggest you do that yourself.

On Sewell, there is a full kit of the 60k maintenance kit. Much of it can be done yourself to save the extra cash. Maybe just the flushes may be difficult.
