Default CEL after eating a pothole

06 IS350 RWD

2 weeks ago i ate a massive pothole going 70 mph on the highway, soon after which my check engine light came on. I pulled the negative terminal to reset everything and the code went away, only to return after 30 -50 miles of driving. Ive done this about 3 times.

Today i got the codes pulled . Anyone else experience something similar, possibly have a fix for this ?

Regards.

Judging by the codes, a loose or defective gas cap sounds like a likely culprit. Have you checked to make sure yours is tight?

i just did today. Called my SA and he told me to flip the rubber O-ring on the gas cap to see if that fixes the issue.

Check and make sure your exhaust didn't take a nasty hit.

You are most like have a loose vacuum hose somewhere. Check all the hoses; especially those connected to the Evap loops. Search for a Vacuum loop diagram to use as refference. Good luck and please let us know what you find.

My car was at the dealership due to excessive oil consumption. They did a compression test leak down test and other tests. Any chance they left something's unplugged ? The cel did come on on my way home from the dealership.

Just do what everyone else does, take it back to them and have them fix it. Chances are they could have left a small vacuum line unplugged or a sensor unplugged. They may have had to pull the intake manifold off to get to the plugs to get the testing equipment into them. (I know it's a 350 and you can work around it to change plugs but the testers might not have fit.)

I'd take it back to them to have it checked out. The sooner the better.

I had the same error codes a few weeks ago on my IS250. I replaced the gas cap and that didn't fix it. I had a leak test and nothing showed up. I finally replaced my purge valve located in the engine bay and that resolved it. I hope that helps.

He wants to charge me a $100 dollars for diagnostics. If it's their fault no charge otherwise I'll have to pay. I'll try everything else before I head back.

I had the same problem, tight your gas cap and drive for 50-100 miles and your car should reset itself
