Default Replacing Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 - Suggestions

It's that time... to replace my tires.. I have the 19" F-Sport wheels on my 2008 IS350. I currently have the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires on them. It's time to to replace them though.

My question is - it's been awhile since I've needed tires. Do I need to stick to the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2? Or are there other options, perhaps better options? I don't mind sticking with them but I assume there's newer tires out there that'll work.

Keep in mind - I'm not all tire/wheel savvy so please don't get too technical on me. LOL

I've heard good reviews about the Hankook V12s and Pole Positions.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports are generally considered to be the best.

Michelins are the best tires out there.

But if you don't track your car, Michelin may not be completely necessary. There are other tires out there that gives you better bang for the buck. Like the Hankook V12, Continental DW, Bridgestones S04.

I don't track my car and actually barely drive. I put just a little over 1,000 miles on it since July 2014 until today - April 5th 2015. I can't hit 3k miles per year. I've had the car since April 2009 and it's got only 23k miles on it. I'll check out the other tires verses michelin. Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Keep in mind that article is from 2009. Most of the tires in that article have been replaced with newer versions by now.

If you don't mind minor road noise, might I suggest some BFG KDW IIs. Great dry AND wet weather traction.

Michelin PSS aren't track tires. Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 are for the track. Try PSS, you won't be disappointed..

BFGoodrich KDW has been replaced by the sport Comp-2. Pilot super sport is hands down the best tire available. If it's in your budget that's the way to go.

They aren't track tires but they are still arguably the best street tires for the track. Most people do not need the grippiest tire for normal daily driving.

Michelin makes the best and most expensive tire on the market (street tires). If the OP do not track his car or do a lot of spirited drive, Michelin PS2 might not be necessary for his needs. I currently have Michelin PS2 on my stocks and Hankook V12 on my aftermarket wheel. Michelin are definitely better but I feel that Hankook is very close 2nd. But the Michelin do cost significantly more.

You're getting a lot of poor information here. Go to tirerack.com and read the survey results and reviews on the tires. They separate them for you by category.

Then when you find what you want, print it out and take it to a local tire shop. Most will match the price without any problems. I suggest an NTB or Tire Kingdom because they are multi branded and can order you any tire you want. The reason I suggest you buy locally instead of online, you can sometimes get a better deal, free rotations, and if you have a problem with a tire you can return to the store instead of shipping it back.
