Roadtop 8.8 inch carplay system installation
I was going to 3d print a frame for the screen to make it conform to the dash, but quickly gave up.
Close-up. Startup and connection takes about 10 seconds
Wire goes into fake speaker grill, snakes behind the nav unit...
Now that I don't have to use a phone mount, i can just plop my phone on the magsafe charger
And into the center console. I started digging the hole for the cables before noticing the plastic lid in the console box
I did alot of reseach and ultimately chose this unit because:
- I want to retain steering wheel skip song functionality
- i want to keep my original backup camera
- i want to keep my original AC controls, cant risk not having AC in the midwest from reliability problems of other units.

Hi,
Could you please clarify a few things?
1) Did the bracket come with the unit? How did you mount it on the speaker grill?
2) You hooked up the unit to the auxiliary plug of the car?
3) Does the unit have a radio app?
4) Does the unit block your view?
Thanks!

- The power cable runs inside the dash into the center console. It's the one with the big red power button in my post. The unit came with a splitter so I used that.
- I didn't check if it had a radio app, but it has a few ways to beam music to the car: FM transmitter, Bluetooth, and AUX cable. I went with the Bluetooth route because I wanted my steering wheel controls. I use Spotify from my phone -> carplay on the head unit, and then the head unit connects to the car through Bluetooth.
- It doesn't block my view of anything.

Hi I bought something similar to yours but my sound quality significantly dropped. Are you able to change the sound quality on your device or have you experienced a change in quality?

What I did was turning all volume to around 23 in roadtop settings. With that I usually have to turn car volume up to 40-50. And then change the equalizer settings in both roadtop and car settings. If you're still not happy I'd plug in the aux cord. Sound quality isnt the best but I can live with it personally.
