Default IS250 rwd Mrr gt5 wheel spacers

I'm new here. First post.

I recently purchased 20" mrr gt5 staggered from element wheels online for my 2008 IS 250 man RWD. When I got them I mounted the fronts with no problem but when I put the rears on, the center cap pops off the wheel because of the shaft or rod (not sure what it's called) that's in between the mounting screws. I called element and they then called mrr to find out the problem. Element said mrr said I need spacers to go on it.

Is this normal or did they just send me a wheel with the wrong offset?

Do spacers damage your car and are they safe?

My thinking is that element didn't actually call mrr he just decided on a quick solution so they wouldn't have to order new wheels.

Just an FYI if you are going for spacers you need the Bolt on ones such as these:

I bought the regular washer type spacers but the wheel studs aren't long enough to bolt on the wheel with the additional spacers.

Contact MRR directly to find out if that should be happening when mounting wheels on a car. I'm pretty sure they'll say no. Also ask them to email you their response so you have something on paper, so to speak, and then go to your vendor and demand that they re-order the right set of wheels instead of making you spend more money on spacers. If it was me, I'd make them replace the wheels, and if I had tires mounted, I would try to get them to pay for unmounting and remounting the tires too.

What a huge hassle

If I do go with the spacers, can i get them done at a normal tire shop. i keep reading that lots of places wont put them on. will i have to do it myself? im not much of a mechanic. i put the wheels on but i dont know about doing the spacers. i want to make sure they are done correctly so that it is safe for me and my fam.

Thanks for the link to the spacers!!!

So i called MRR. they said that element did call them about it and they did give them that answer. But He had another option he said they have a special cap that they use on corvettes because they have the same problem but he has never had this problem with is250s but he is going to send them to me. He said they can do that or do the spacers. I dont want to do the spacers because i read online that no tire chain companies or chain auto shops will install them for you and i dont know how to do it myself.

So thats cool with me.

Hmm, that's interesting. Good to hear that you got it sorted out though.

Its an extended cap so hopefully that will work. Only bad part is i have to take the wheels back off to get them on because he said they dont just pop in like the other caps, you have to screw them in from the inside.
