Driver's Side FRONT Headlight....On/Off 2007 IS 250

Hi all,

I have a 2007 Lexus IS 250 and the driver's side front headlight goes on and off at times. When I brought my car for service, they said they could find nothing wrong with it. It has been fine for about two months, but the other night it did it again. I am guessing it needs to be replaced soon? Has anyone else had this issue? How much does it cost to replace the bulb? Do I need to replace the left side if I replace the right? Also, I can get the light back on again if I switch off the lights and turn them back on.

Thanks,

ISguy20

If it goes out intermittently, then chances are you have HID's and the ballast is going bad. If it still turns on then your bulb isnt the problem. do you have OEM HID's or aftermarket HID's

What is the difference between OEM and aftermarket HID's? Just so I know which ones I have.

OEM uses D4S bulbs, aftermarket uses H11 bulbs. If you lift your hood, you can usually find the ballast of aftermarket HID kits quicker than the OEM ones that is tucked away

Im almost positive you have one or the other because halogen bulbs would not go out intermittently

I have OEM ones.

then i would look to getting that ballast replaced. if the car is still under warranty, see if lexus can replace it

I would swap the bulbs first and see if the issue follows the bulb. If thats the case replace the bulb.

I agree. My bulb went bad and had to be replaced--but it would still come on for a second when I first started up the car.

I'm having the same issue. In the morning when the car is first started, the light doesn't come on. After driving for a while it seems to come to life. I took it in for service last week (they've had it for a few days) and the service advisor said that it's probably the bulb ($287), but I'll know for sure soon.

i would use money to buy Phillips or Garax bulb not OEM

I have Garax bulbs for our cars if anyone needs it. 8000k

Let me know what happens! Today was good....nothing happened.

I had this same issue, on the drivers side. i had to keep turning the lights off and on for it to work. it was the bulb and not ballast.

Mine turned out to be the bulb. The dealer changed it out and everything has been working fine since then. Funny thing, I've been noticing a lot of cars of varying brands with one headlight out. They all seem to be 2005+ model years.
