Engine failure

So the engine in my soon to be ex's 06 IS350 is destroyed and I found a similar thread in the GS350 thread about the 2GR-FSE engine failing https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ast-night.html
Engine is toast, compression test at 20psi in each cylinder, could not pressurize any cylinder and the air completely escaped, immediately dumped water that was put in the radiator.
One question is, does anyone know what could be the culprit from the failure? Seized water pump? The recently recalled intake gears? Any other opinions without having actually seen the car?
Second question, the 2010 3.5 should fit into the 2006 correct? Someone answered in the GS thread, but wanted to verify before spending $3500+ on an engine.

Yes, the same 3.5L from used from '06 to current.

Now, how exactly did the engine issue come about or does your EX even have a clue? Did you say it's leaking from ALL 6 cylinders? Dual HG failure?

GL!

that sucks...no way to know without inspecting the car, but information about what the vehicle was doing and how it was driven at the time of failure could help some I guess. Other than that, I could type for days on what could cause engine failure...lol

She said the temp gauge rose and fell several times before dying. Didn't say whether the low coolant or check engine lights came on. My guess is they did and she doesn't want to admit it.
I looked at the car the other day and there was coolant leaking from nearly every crack. Between the heads/block, from the water pump and there was coolant sprayed over the engine and all underneath.

Sounds like a head gasket to me. If its leaking from all cylinders, my assumption is that someone tried to remove the head, and tore the gaskets upon reassembly. OR maybe could even be a broken head studs from too much pressure. Has she had it inspected anywhere. Usually with these V style engines, one side would go bad and you replace both BUT if both sides are leaking, it had to be tampered with. Inspect the bolts that hold the valve cover or even try to move the head assembly with your hands and see if there is any movement. If there is, then there is your culprit

Sounds like the water pump went, which is VERY common on the 2IS model, and the warning signs (temp flucuation) were ignored. To me, given the details provided, it sounds like the engine overheated bad enough to warp the heads; thus leading to two blown headgaskets. :(

That's what I'm thinking as well. She's trying to have me pay half the repairs even though it's her car, she was driving and she ignored all the warning signs.
