Default another oil consumption thread

My Fiance has an 07 IS250 and the car always consumed oil. When newer it was 1 quart every 5K miles, recently its about .8 quarts every 1000 miles. Recently I was following her on the freeway and noticed when she accelerates, there is plume of black smoke.

The dealer is saying we are still within normal consumption range and Lexus Customer Assistance is basically worthless. Any suggestions on how to proceed??

Toyota/Lexus says that normal oil consumption is less than 1 quart every 600 miles. Sounds crazy right? They had an issue with the piston oil drain holes on some of their engines plugging up and causing the motor to burn oil. I am not sure if that is the problem with your fiance's car but if her car has a lousy oil change history they may have plugged up. It might be worth looking at getting rid of the car or just keep driving it until the motor is shot and claim it under the extended warranty they gave everyone for the carbon buildup issue.
