So I have this noise but I have an IS250AWD... Lexus performed a "recall" on my car in Feb. telling me it was a Piston Ring Recall. I did mention the rattling but they never told me anything about cam gear recalls.

that is different. AFAIK, there is no cam gear recall for anything other than the 350, even though the 250 may have the same rattle on startup.

I just got off the phone with the Lexus Corp and they are reimbursing me for a $5K bill I paid over year ago to fix this problem

your problem is the only reason I took mine in for the recall. I was willing to live with the noise but the odds of a bolt eventually shaking loose and then messing up the engine was too much to ignore.

you're the first person I've read about where it actually happened...

Default So what can we is 250 owners do about rattle since we ain't covered in recall

Just curious, we as IS 250 owners, aren't in recall for rattle, but mine seems to happen more often. I'm at 105,000 miles.. What are my options?
Is it only pay up the $2000 to get it fixed =(

I'm at 90K myself and the noise is getting worse for me as well. I actually brought it up before hitting the 70K power train warranty but it was so infrequent at that point that it couldn't be replicated. I'm a little bothered that the is350 owners are covered but not the is250.

what they said? did that the same problem as the IS350 recall?

I think all IS250 owner should complain together to Lexus or safety department. so they can recall the IS250 as well. cause the same cam gear.

Happens on the 2006 GS300 as well and we aren't covered. Pretty crappy to only cover one car when they are all doing it.

Just wondering, is your car still making that noise? Have you taken any measure to try to ease that?

if your car doesn't make that rattle noise, should we still bring it in and do it ?

PS: i've checked the Canadian Lexus web there is no recall on this ?

In 2014 is had my 2006 is350 worked on to fix the problem as a recall I'm sure it had about 130,xxx on it. The rattle had been present in cold starts and i had no idea what the sound was. It was because the sound would not duplicate once the is350 warmed up. I'm so glad my engine did not lock up and not start and it was fixed before any real damage took place.

i called Lexus Canada and checked their website, they said 2011 IS350 AWD is not affected with this recall ? is that true ? i don't have noise when start up either warm or cold, just the normal engine noise.
