Followed the DIY, which Btw wasn't as simple as described.. Popped out the tabs and still had to wrestle the vents out for half an hour.

The day I did the DIY, all the cracking sounds went away. However, the very next day, they were back in full force. For those of you that have done the DIY, what dry graphite did you use (I used the one from home depot), did you spray on any other spots other than the ones in the DIY, and have your cracking sounds ever returned?

Bump..? :(

Other dull rattles/shakes in the interior are fine for now, but this plastic cracking sound has gotten the best of me; needs to freaking go. Just lame that even a last gen 3 series still sounds solid inside, no creaks or rattles, yet this car sounds so cheap. Hell, my last car, 2005 GTO, had ZERO rattles from the dash/seat/interior.

Might just redo the entire process this weekend.

I'm not sure about dry graphite, but another thing you can try is felt tape. You can buy a whole sheet of them for 99 cents at Michaels.
