Hey Guys,

This douche I work with has a 2007 Impala SS that I belive is 301 horsepower stock. My IS 350 OEM Sport is 306 stock. His car is front wheel drive mine is rear. He went out and bought a K&M cold air intake to boost his horse. We haven't had the chance to line them up but I'm pretty sure I would crush him.

Any thoughts?

Cars that close, it could very well come down to the driver. It's not like there's that much a difference in power where it's obvious. Weight, weather temp, tires, etc. - can all impact that possible 5.0 sec time there (honestly on a perfect day you could go under 5 sec).

So my answer is, maybe.

Don't do it in the streets... take it to the tracks.

As UniSlayEX said, Turn off Traction Control... also leave the ECU on NORMAL Mode. Don't use POWER Mode since this will slow you down in a drag race scenario.

Brake torque to about 2500 RPM and then let loose....

No sense in racing stock cars in a straight line. Professionals have taken the guessing game of how fast our cars are. On a road course would be a different story or if you "built" the car, then as written above "looser pays track fees".

No point in racing an ignorant co-worker.

Thanks guys! If we do race which we most likely will not, it would be on the track for sure. He used to make fun of me because for the last 9 years I have been in a 93' Toyota Corolla and the Jap v6 in my new car has a little gusto.

This forum is great and I really appreciate everyone's feedback!

Sorry for Hijacking this thread.

I think the OP needs to practice before he goes into battle.

I say this because I tried 0-60 times on my 2010 IS 300 and couldn't get even close to its advertised timings.

I did the same thing , Brake torque'd to 2000 RPM , turned off traction control completely , dumped the brake and full throttle on ECU Normal mode.

Just got enormous wheel spin for the first few seconds and a final time of 15 sec's ,( as tested by many reviewers were 6-6.5 seconds for this car ) , so what works for others not necessarily works for us.

I can think of 2 reasons for my worse timings.

1) My tires were old stock Bridgestone Potenza's that ran nearly 50,000 Km's and were just replaced after this failure trial run.

2) This engine is different with different HP and Torque ratings. 228 hp at 6200 rpm and 300 Nm at 4400 rpm , so probably I need to brake torque differently.
