Unlike a lot of cars, I don't believe the 2IS model has a set mileage to replace the water pump. Replace it only if leaking or if making pulley noise.

Well just got a call from lexus saying that they recommend I change my waterpump because they were doing my pistons recall. Estimated 60 bucks for labor and 260 something for parts. I'm predicting the labor is cheap because they already took so much **** of the engine to do the pistons so 60 bucks just to install. Does anyone have or know a link to doing a waterpump job on these is250? If so would really appreciate it! Thanks

Have the dealership do it. The engine is torn apart and out of the car so its easier to have it done now for $60 than to have another shop do it or for you to do it yourself. You also get a parts warranty, so if anything goes wrong they'll handle it for you later on

If I was having the motor worked on to such an extent, I would have them put on the new water pump too.

I went ahead and approve the repair. It is cheap because to do the pistons basically they tore everything apart. Well see how this baby rides after the recall.

Have them do the serpentine belt as well if they are going to do the water pump. I had the water pump replaced under warranty and having the belt replaced was only like an extra $30 if I remember correctly.

my dealer didn't even bother asking if I wanted to replace my belt when I had my water pump replaced... then again it was only 22k miles

The belt is a easy fix, what in worried about is the waterpump failing with all these bad reviews.
If there's all these complaints it should be a recall.
