Car sounds like it's Supercharged...

I did a search don't worry, however none of the threads gave me a definite answer as to what exactly it is that cause the car to whine up like a supercharger. Some say it's the idler pulley, some say it's the alternator, some say water pump, timing chain...list goes on..could it really be any of those thing? Do i have to go down the list and replace every single one till it stops whining? Don't tell me it's normal because my coworker has the exact same model year, little higher mileage, but does not whine...

If its' something i can do on my own i'll do it, my engine bay is spotless, all the clips and rivets are there, if i take it to the dealer i know for sure half of those clips and rivets won't be put back in.

you can take off the drive belt and manually spin the idler/tensioner pulleys and alternator to rule out the easy fixes

Have you had a new accessory belt installed lately? In one of my previous cars I had purchased a new Kevlar belt and it honestly sounded like a mini supercharger whine. But more than likely it's one of your pulleys; water pump, alternator, idler...check them all.

GL!

idler pulley may be the cause
alternator pulley may be the cause
water pump would give you kind of a grinding sound
timing chain would give you a loud grinding/ slapping sound.

If you have something like a stethoscope for automotive use (its like a doctors one, but with a long thin metal rod) you could place it on non moving parts of the pulleys to see which ones are making that whine sound.

the accessory drive belt would give you a squeaking type noise, so that's out of the question usually

I'm getting the same sound ''/ thinking it may be the water pump.

With 28K miles i hope it's not the waterpump...dealer wants to charge 135 just to diagnose it, and then gonna charge a lot more to replace whatever it is they find...alternator is not covered under warranty anymore, only the idler puller is...but what about the WP?

Listen to it through a large screw driver and try to isolate it, otherwise spray some sort of lube in sequence until you hear it stop/quiet down then you know what it is...
