Since until I got on CL , I didnt know they had is350's , due to lack of research before buying and what I see on the road . Still have yet to see one

out of curiousity I searched Autotrader
only one within 50 miles(Pittsburgh Area) and its a 2014.

Anyone else see them on the road frequently ?, (besides your own smart asses )

 

Here in southern ca is350's are everywhere

 

bunch of em here are 250s. 350s are a bit rare

 

Only 20% of the IS that come off the line are 350's.

I did this search often for several months. What is on Autotrader within 75 miles of me in northern VA at present are pretty indicative of average.

12- IS 350's
120- IS 250's

By comparison BMW 335 - over 140
3 series dating back to 2006- over 800.

 

yeah the comparable BMW's & Mercedes are very common , glad I got the Lex

 

i've seen a handful of IS350's around here but I would say compared to IS250's its 1 out of 10.

 

In Northern VA, there are very few IS350s. The same trend extends to pretty much the entire east coast where there is the possibility of snow/ice. I ended up flying to Ohio to buy my 350. Don't be afraid to extend the radius of your search. Chances are that there will be a member on this forum that can inspect the car in your stead.

 

those cars are practically non-existent in Pittsburgh. Lexus of the north hills told me they sell 9 rwd IS350s a year if that, they don't even keep any on their lot or down in the south hills.

 

The production numbers are actually closer to 10%, also indicated by your stats

 

My own numbers certainly do seem to suggest that. I was basing my figures on what might be old data, for instance Lexus may have decreased their numbers over the last several years. Not sure why as they never seemed to have a hard time selling the car, but perhaps thought there was only a limited market for them over time, or at least over a certain period of time.

I was hesitant to suggest my area is indicative of overall numbers as most of the 350's may be sold in other areas which would skew the numbers toward a higher count. NoVA does get some snow, but only rarely is it more than a few days total a year. I have also noticed very few of the 250's I see are AWD. Since I have an AWD Subaru and a FWD Honda I am not particularly worried about RWD. I also see fewer AWD bimmers thand RWD, though nearly every Audi I see is AWD.

Lexus doesnt seem to be talking when it comes to their reasons for limiting production, unless they just don't see a market for an expanded production.

My area of NoVA is very luxury brand heavy. I would say the luxury brands in total outnumber all other brands sold. Based on just being a car watcher the most common vehicles I see are the Acura SUV, Lexus SUV, BMW sedans, then Acura, Infiniti and Lexus and Mercedes sedans. There are also more and more Audis.

By contrast in my home state of Tennessee pickups outnumber all sedans by a large margin, followed by SUVS and a blend of domestic and Japanese sedans. Luxury brands are far fewer in number.

 

I've only seen at most 4-5 IS350s in the SF bay area. most are usually the IS250. Even more rare (I think) in the SF Bay Area are the AWD 2IS's, think most of those get shipped/ sold on the mid west/ east coast.

 

I have also noticed that there are not a lot of IS350's. At one time I looked at the Dallas-Fort Worth area Cars.com ads and saw over 200 IS250's versus 38 IS350"s. My car has the luxury package, navigation, rear spoiler, and the Mark Levinson system and I have found this to be an especially rare combination as most of the few I have seen are the early years ( 2006 thru 2008 ) and I have not seen it on any IS250"s. My car is a 2007, breakwater blue metallic with sterling ( gray ) interior.

 

IS350's are rare in NJ...only seen a few. Let alone IS350 AWD.

 

I'd say the ratio is about 4 or 5 to 1, more in some areas, less in others. In TX I see a fair number of IS350's. Mine is an '06 with Sports Package, Navigation, Mark Levinson, Ground Effects, and rear spoiler....all in all that is a pretty rare bird. There just weren't that many Sport Packages and ML combos sold in that first year.
