Default Found rod hanging on passenger side...help identify

'07 IS350

GF said she heard a 'pop' yesterday while backing out of her parking spot. Then another pop when she went forward. After that, no sounds. This morning she said she found a rod hanging from her passenger side of the car. She drove to my office and this is what I found

The rod pictured below was hanging from the rocker panel assembly. It was in the hole (circled) about 3-4 inches and the rest was hanging there. I didn't see a place toward the front of the car that it could have attached/inserted to. Driver side does not have anything similar to the rod. The rod looks beat up so my guess is debris from the road. She did tell me that she hit a 'pretty big pothole' the other day. So maybe this debris was in the pothole and got lodged in to her rocker panel assembly.

Your thoughts? Does this part look familiar?

does not look like any part of the car, I'd say you ran over it on the road causing it to inpale itself into the rocker panel.

I totally agree with the comment above. Not a car part.

I would use this as an opportunity to guilt trip your girlfriend. Make her feel guilty enough to do something she normally won't do for you.
