United Auto Car Warranty (through Lexus)
Anyone purchase a extended warranty via Lexus? I called them today since I have a 2009 with 78,000 miles and asked what options they had.
In short, for the Platinum warranty package, offered through United Auto Care and serviced through Lexus, list the following prices per warranty.
2yrs, 24,000 miles ($2,500)
3yrs, 36,000 miles ($2,900)
I don't know what the longevity of the Lexus are, more specifically, the IS350. Are they maintenance free (worrisome) for well over 100,000 or are there known issues that rear their ugly head at a certain time?
Thoughts?

I did not buy an extended warranty and would not in the future either. Consumer Reports states you are generally better off putting the money away and use it if something goes wrong. In most cases, you will come out ahead. If I were buying a vehicle known for having problems, I would consider it, but Lexus is well known for quality and reliability.
On the flipside, others will tell you that they had some major thing go wrong and it saved them.
Decide if you are betting on the quality of your car or the lack there of
Also remember that these warranties are very high profit for the dealerships (perhaps because there are so few claims?).
Good luck!

PM Me. I am a used car dealership in Denver and can set you up with a better warranty, cheaper.
Honestly though, these IS250 and 350's are pretty bulletproof if you keep up with your basic routine maintenance. I've purchased and re-sold multiple IS's with over 120K and they all mostly passed our dealerships pre-inspection report.

Be very careful about these third-part warranty, even they say they service thru Lexus. I will not buy them unless you had experience with them or really know about their warranty.
I once received a mail from a insurance company which would insure the water main pipe from outside of my house to the street which is not responsibility of the water company. It even include a letter insert from my water company, making it look legit. It only costs about $5 per month to join and it sounded like a no brainer to get the insurance. After googling up the insurance company, I found it does not insure anything at all. Most ridiculous clause is that the insurance does not cover "normal wear and tear" of the pipe and it does not cover natural disaster. Hmm... What do I need it for then?
Thank god there is internet nowadays.

Let me add a bit to my prior post. Here is the only way I would buy a 3rd party warranty. Ask the service department (not sales or finance) if there is a 3rd party they suggest that works well with them. If they recommend a company that covers items and pays promptly then get a quote and decide for yourself. If all you get is a bunch of head scratching then set aside $200 a month for repairs and hope you never use it.

I was offered a United Auto Care extended warranty from a Lexus dealer for a 2013 IS F for 6 yr or 85k miles from the day you purchase the car for $2351 with $0 deductible. I also got a quote for Lexus platinum 8 yr or 100k miles for $3635 with $0 deductible but it starts from
original sale of car date.
Has anyone bought and used United Auto Care and can share some experiences?
