Typical road debris unfortunately. Looks like the pliers on a leatherman multi-tool.

I doubt there is anyway to prove it was from the construction and not just a piece of random debris.

If its from the city, you could file a complaint, but from previous members, it'll be atleast a year before you see any money.

It sucks, but the only real thing to do is go through insurance and pay your deductible. Your rates shouldn't go up from this

yeah i called my insurance earlier. got to get the rim checked and what other damage have been done to the under body... but even if it takes me a year. i will make sure cali pays for this!!!!!! the amount of money what government has taken is too D*** high

Dang, that's terrible! Glad to see that the damage is not more severe. Hope insurance rakes care of you.

Your best bet would be to file a comprehensive insurance claim. Hopefully your deductible is low. I'm sure we would all like to know the result of the complaint.

I doubt they would pay you, as it would be very hard to prove that the pliers came from someone working the construction site. But not that's it's unheard of. I used to work for a railroad company and this guy drove his beater over one of our RR crossings and his muffler fell off. We ended up paying the guy for a new muffler!! :egads:

well i know that there have been road work being done on the strip of road i was on. they have been working on it for a while now to make the new fast track lanes and i have been driving the exact road day in and day out without until now. so i am very sure that its because someone left their tool or dropped it and never got it back.

alright guys... i just brought by car in to get it checked out. all the visible damage has quoted me a hefty 1,347+change. still need to get the car lifted and see if there are any more damage for me to yell at the road workers down the freeway.

Sorry to see that....tha's why I hate driving on 880.....

I dont think you can claim the govt for that as:

1. It's a road construction (not a pothole)

2. There's no evidence that leatherman is from the construction site.

You can file a claim with the construction company but I dobut it will go any further.

Your insurance company would be your best bet....good luck and keep us posted.
