Default 6MT: Remove Clutch Accumulator?

I've been considering removing the clutch accumulator to see if it gives a more consistent and/or better feeling (albeit slightly less smooth/dampened) feel to the pedal. Has anyone on CL done this before? Just curious if anyone has noticed any improvement versus the added potential vibrations?

It's easily undone, so if I don't notice any improvement I'll throw the accumulator back in, but I was just curious if there were any previous experiences.

Sorry Jeff but I was not aware of this on the 6MT so
Never had a chance to tinker with it before I totaled my 6MT .

Yeah there probably aren't enough 6MT guys around who have done it or care about doing it, haha.

Never hurts to ask though, I'll report my findings.

Parts arrive tomorrow. If I have time I'll put them in then.

EDIT: Provided I ordered parts that will work the way I want them to, haha.

Pedal height is somewhat independent of anything accumulator related, though I am curious as to why you needed the pedal height adjusted? Did you have your clutch replaced?

Thanks for doing a search though, it's appreciated.

no didnt get the clutch replaced: I just dont like the high "catch" point....so just adjust the pedal to a "lower catch" position...

So I did this today, and as to whether it is better or not, I'm going to go with yes, it is better with the caveat being that (especially at the top of the pedal travel, before you actually start to disengage the pressure plate) the clutch pedal feels lighter afterward. The accumulator seems to have been applying at least a bit of resistance.

Either way, it is definitely nicer to have the clutch pedal feel considerably less vague. There is a much better feel of exactly where you are as far as pedal travel and clutch engagement. I had no trouble driving the car before, but I do enjoy the more positive pedal feel, even with the slightly decreased effort. I may adjust the pedal height in a few days if I feel I want to get rid of some of the lighter feel at the top of the pedal's travel.

I was kicking myself for not taking any "before" pictures, but I did manage to find a picture someone had taken of their transmission here on the forums, so I'll use that as my before picture.

Parts list:

90947-A2008 - Flexible Clutch Hose (Approximately 2-inches longer, and with 2 female ends instead of one male and one female)
31484-42110 - Clutch Hose Bracket (You will need to drill a new hole and shorten this for it to fit)
91611-60820 - Hose Bracket to Transmission Bolt (10mm shorter bolt to account for the thickness of the bracket versus the accumulator)
90468-08040 - Flex Hose to Bracket Spring Clip

Pictures:

Before: (This picture appears to be from an 06-early 09 model as it has a different hardline after the accumulator)

After:

So do I think it was worth it? I think so, especially if I had a heavier pressure plate, then it would feel absolutely amazing. As it stands, I think it's much nicer to have the more accurate pedal feel, and will get used to the difference in upper travel effort somewhat quickly.

Jeff

You can buy the parts at any Toyota dealership.

There are some clutch bleeding tutorials posted online, I'm on my phone, or I'd explain the procedure in more detail. Perhaps when I am at my computer later.
