Unhappy accident finally happened to me :(

hi CL,

i dont think i ever posted a pic of my car on here before, and i cannot believe the first pic is my car after an accident it's my first accident ever. here's a pic.

[IMG][/IMG]

the car in front of me made a emergency stop on the freeway not sure for what reason so i hit his rear bumper.

since it's my first accident i'm not sure what to do. i already filed my insurance claim. now i got a few body shops from the socal regional forum so i will probably do an estimate and drop it off for repair in the next few days.

from the pics, i'm assuming i'll need a new front bumper, grille, and not sure about head light. will i have to provide those parts to the shop for them to put it on as part of the repair? my collision deductible is $2,000

any suggestion as to what my next steps should be will be greatly appreciated. altho i got a few shop names already, if you know of any particular good ones pls feel free to share, as well. thanks evereyone!

Holly crap 2000 deductible, for that amount you might be better getting an estimate through a body shop and paying out of pocket as it might be less than 2k especially if you bring the parts

Sorry to see that. Glad your ok. Good news is it doesn't look terribly bad. I would think less then 2k to fix it. Like he said probably could find the parts used even for a decent deal.

Sorry to see. I'm glad you're okay. Wow $2,000 deductible? Time for a 2011-12 F-Sport front bumper

I bet it will be more than 2k in parts and labor. B16da9 may be right though, It might be cheaper to do it out of pocket with that kind of deductable.

It looks like bumper, grill, driver headlight, driver fender, and hood (may be fine from the looks of it - hard to tell). Either way, youre fine and thats all that matters.

FYI - You should probably tell your shop not to drill the new bumper you get because then youll need to put the front plate on. Gotta love CA...

That is almost definitely going to be more than $2K at a decent body shop I would think.

But it might not be enough over $2K to be worth filing a claim for. But you already filed the claim now, sooo... I'm not sure how that works. Can you cancel a claim that has not been paid out or anything?

thanks for the heads up, i did not think of this option. i think i'll get an estimate for repair first, then go from there. however, i heard they always tend to over estimate. so, if repair cost is less than $2,000, it doesn't matter if i do repair or get new bumper because either way i'll be paying out of pocket, right? but if it's more than $2,000, i can either have insurance pay for anything more than $2,000 for repair, or get a new bumper but is insurance going to cover it as part of the repair?

yeah, i'm still weighing my options, whether to just get new bumper or repair.

and i dont think insurance matters much ? since i have such a high deductible and chances are it'll be paying out of pocket for everything more than $2,000.

Haha, I run with a 2500 deductible, but I do have cash set aside to pay for it if it ever happens.

Is this a Cali thing? as I have NEVER heard of deductibles this high before.
