04152-31080 / 04152-31080-79 are the Toyota Japan-supplied filters. They're still made in Thailand like the Toyota USA-supplied 04152-YZZA3 filters, though they are a slightly different colour. Most older filters supplied by Toyota Japan are actually made in Japan and of a different design. I was a bit disappointed when I got these from Japan and they were still made in Thailand like the Toyota USA-supplied ones.

Hey NYG I also agree that the OEM filter is the way to go,but I believe that you can go 7,500 miles intervals with the full synthetic oil and filter. Anyone disagreeing chime in. It's too soon to change full synthetic at 5,000 miles unless you drive all stop and go city miles.

Do you know why there is a different oil filter between the AWD and RWD; and are they filters interchangeable?

The AWD filter comes with an extra o-ring in the box for the filter housing. The filters themselves are identical. If you want to cover all bases, buy an AWD filter (YZZA5) as it will work for both cars. If you buy the RWD (YZZA3) filter and want to use it for an AWD, you won't be able to replace one of the o-rings.
