Problems with my 06' is250 manual .... Please help!!!
Ok, so I have been reading these threads for the past couple days and I cannot find anyone with the exact problem...
Here is my question: I have an 06' is250 manual 6 with 97,000 miles on it. I began to hear a noise when downshifting like getting off a freeway or something of that nature. The sound to me sounded like a bad throwout bearing and not knowing the history of the car figured it was on the original clutch and it was that time. The noise only occurs when say i am down shifting from 5th to 4th (any gear this occurs) and its like the bearing is doing double time to catch up with the rpm of the engine.I had the clutch replaced with a Duralast clutch. The mechanic said that the kit came with a pilot bearing and throw out bearing however they did not see that the existing clutch had a pilot bearing??? So they replaced the clutch, throwout bearing, and resurfaced the flywheel. I drove the car not more than 100 miles and the sound came back.
Some things to note: when the car is parked in neutral and I have the clutch out, I hear almost a metal on metal grinding noise (very very faint). When I push the clutch in it goes away.
The sound in question has only occurred when I down shift from a high speed and only last until (what I believe is a bearing) catches up with the rpm of the engine.
I've read a lot about the transmission issue and I'm not convinced its that however I'm reluctant to fork over more cash just to replace the throwout bearing only to find it didn't fix it.
Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. The dual mass flywheel is quite new to me.

Sorry to hear about your issue. I have an 06' manual and I'm not a huge fan of it and don't like reading stories like this. This may help.....https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...lp-please.html https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ever-seen.html https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...box-noise.htmlhttps://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ing-noise.html

I find it strange that your mechanic said they resurfaced the flywheel when very few places have the equipment to resurface a dual-mass flywheel. Also I looked up the parts for the clutch and they do show the following the part number bellow. Did the noise start before the clutch change or after, if it started to happen after the clutch install I would say your mechanic assembled the kit incorrectly.
Part# 33311W 903631200277
BEARING (FOR INPUT SHAFT) (RWD - REAR WHEEL DRIVE) (MTM - MANUAL TRANSMISSION) 1 In Stock $10.40 $8.65
