New Tires for IS250. Hankooks?
#17
I just bought my second set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus at Costco for $802 out the door (that included a $70 Michelin discount). I love them. 45,000 mile warranty. Worth every penny.

When I picked up my '07 IS 250 AWD last year, it came with Goodyear Eagle GT wrapped around the stock 17s. I went 10k miles before rotating them and I'm probably rotating them at 10k again. When they are completely shot, I'm jumping for Continental ExtremeContact DW (since I don't need A/S in South Florida and benefit with the added grip of summers) instead of the Hankook V12 Evo as they don't have the grip in the rain.

Love them at first, they were very grippy around turn, but after 25K, they are not that great anymore. They do not grip as they use to and I turn at slower speed... plus they are noisy.
Wouldn't buy them again, will weight other options.

I love my Hankooks! I have the v4's though. They have a better tread wear warranty and are very very quiet. They actually ride excellent as well( better than my stock set!) being that they are low profile with a little stretch. I run 20x8.5" 235/35-20 and 20x10" 255/35-20. I would definitely recommend them.

I had Michelin Pilot Sport A/S plus from Costco before. Cost about $1100+ for IS350 18 OEM wheels. The front already went out after 35K miles aggressive driving. The edges of the tires were gone and I should have replaced them at 30K. I was driving with the core (white line of fabric string) showing for the last 5K with very conservative driving of course. The rear still has a bit life in them probably 5/32 left. So I am on Hankook V12 for the front and Michelin PS A/S in back now until the back wears out. V12 costs me about $750 installed. I am switching to Hankook from Michelin because I tend to wear out the outer edge of the tires faster so the rated 500A threadwear is kind of a waste. Hopefully the hanhook can last long enough.
Michelin PS AS handles well but still not as good as summer tires. Since I am in the SF bay area, we don't get that much rain so it is not really a concern to me, and I drive much much more conservative in rain anyway.
I dont think you will regret the V12 since price is still a big factor.

Just a quick update, got the Hankooks V12s 18" installed for $695 out the door at American Tire Depot.
Rides smooth and seems pretty quiet. Can't really tell the difference between these and my previous tires Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sports. I wanted the Michelin Pilot Super Sport but the price was almost $300 more. I'm pretty satisfied with my decision for now. Hopefully I can get more than 20K out of them without any issues.
Thanks for all the input guys!

They beat every single other tire tested in wet braking, including the legendary Michelin PS2.
Unless you guys mean "wet and 30 degrees out" in which case any summer tire will be awful.

funny because compared to Dunlopp, it "felt" like it handles better

I have the tire on my IS250 and they perform well for the price. The car isn't fast so I rarely drive crazy. Honestly 25k to 30k mileage is a lot to ask out of a summer tire.

I have V12 in 19". They are "good-for-the-money" Considering they are 30% cheaper than top notch tires like Michelin PSS or BS S001. Tend to be noisy humming on the freeway speed over 70 mph. Grip is not great compare to the stock BS RE050. But again, they are good considering the price you pay.
