i called a shop and they said urethane kits cost more for paint because paint does not stay on due to oil.. and said fiberglass is better... any ideas?

so is authentic made in fiber glass then?

from my experience, most bodyshops here don't care for the extra cost because it's just a layer of primer adhesive they need to spray on the PU before primer

oh really? i cannot say if they are being extra careful with their work, or just trying to charge more, then. they said urethane kits take extra work to prep due to the excessive oil that it has, and even with the extra work the paint may or may not stay on for long.

oh btw, is urethane or fiberglass more durable?

Yes, the authentic is made out of fiber glass. Some reps (like the one from Nextmod) are made out of FB too I think

Im no expert, but it sounds like that paint shop is trying to rip you off

And Im not sure if PU is more durable, but it is lighter and more flexible. Thats why some sellers will ship you a lip folded in half to save on shipping costs

Call another paint shop and see what they say. We both could be wrong

Yeah PU is very flexible and basically no cracking, and easier to mold if fitment is off
It's true PU is extra work, but I wouldn't say excessive
Usually for FRP you need PRIMER > PAINT > CLEAR
But for PU you need ADHESIVE > PRIMER > PAINT > CLEAR

The adhesive acts as a primer for the actual primer
In some cases, they might sand the PU surface and clean it first

Wait, I thought you only got the sides? Or is the front part of your custom setup?

Wow, Im so happy that I returned the lip unopened lol. Why not take it to a body shop and see if they can work some magic?

I still cant believe it bro. Nextmod is such a shady company

You said your making it yourself? Or are you taking parts of different lips and making a new one?

I was thinking about doing that too but it was more money than I wanted to spend.

I also considered getting a 06-08 bumper but decided against it
