Default Heated Seats

I'm not sure if it is my imagination or not, but do the Lexus heated seats rapidly degrade in how much heat they put out over time?

If I have my seats on high, its barely as warm as rental cars with the heaters on low.

Just like an electrical element on a stove, they eventually take longer to get hot... but it still seems like the stove burner will get as hot as it ever did when new, but just take longer to get there.

Mine seem to work the same as they did when I bought the car.... No issues here.

I don't think I've ever had a rental car with heated seats, but my IS350 seat heaters never put out as much heat as those on my previous car (Audi S4), even when the Lexus was brand new. I haven't really noticed much degradation over time. They were and are adequate. (unlike the seat ventilators, which were and are inadequate)

i always put mine on 3 and it warms up quite fast. i never use 1 or 2. my wife has a G35 and her seat warmers are alot hotter than the (IS) models. My opinion, i like the fact that i can leave it on for a 20 minute drive and the heat is just right.

My IS heated seats are def NOWHERE near as hot as other vehicles such as; Audi's, Infiniti, etc. Those vehicles i feel literally burn your ***(which is a good thing on freezing cold days) VS my Lexus feels warm at best. It's always been like that since day one. Sometimes i wish it would get super hot like other vehicles i've owned.

The seat warmers in my fiance's Altima are better then the ones in my IS
I mean the ones in my IS heat up quickly and everything still, but like some others here have said already, its just not that hot.

They seem to be about the same as when I got the car however they are no where near as warm as other cars I have driven. My wife has an accord and her low setting is hotter than my high setting.

If the seats get super hot wouldn't that accelerate the drying out of leather?

Yeah my GF's c230 has seat heaters that could fry an egg on high, she always complains that the three setting in my IS is way to cold... But I'm a hot person and rarely turn mine on anyway so oh well!

I think the heat from the heated seats is good and warms the back too. It's hot on high setting, though not burn-your-*** off hot -- which is good I think The cool setting is not that great though since when it's hot, it just circulates hot air and doesn't seem to go up the back; there is a mod for that though.

Why would anyone want their butt any hotter? As long as they warm up and keep you warm. Thats all that should matter.

My '00 TL, and my wife's Pilot quickly went to scorching when you put the heaters on hi. My IS does not get as hot--but I do think that, even if I leave it on 3, that after 10-15 minutes, it feels like the heat backs off a bit.
