Get a 350 with X-PACK or an ISF. 250 is nice but when you look at the price difference to a 350 it is small compared to what people are putting in 250's with aftermarket items to try and get 350 power.

A G8 GT is slightly slower than an IS350 actually... you won't quite get the push-you-into-your-seatback torque launch feeling in the IS, but you'll get to 60 or the 1/4 a tenth or two sooner.

And the IS will certainly out-handle the much larger/heavier G8. Better mileage too.

It's the G8 GXP where he'd probably need to look at an IS-F for a good power/performance comparison.

I agree a 250 will feel anemic compared to any of the above, and given the carbon issue on top and the small price difference, get a 350.

Personally I think the best optioning is the sport package- you get all the good stuff from the luxury package, plus the factory sport suspension.

When I bought my G8, I also looked at the IS. I test drove a brand new IS250. Had I test drove a 350, it might have been a hard decision. I've been a Pontiac man ever since I have been driving. The G8 was the ultimate car for me - lots of power, good ride and handling, and lots of back seat room, something the IS cars don't have. I have always eyed the IS cars all along. I like the look of them. Better gas mileage is appealing. At this point, I'm in the exploritory stage.

One other question I have. What is the signficance of some IS models having the Lexus logo on the top of the rear bumper? I have seen some with that, most without it.
