It's Winter, I'm bored, here's another CF Vinyl Wrap Thread

So I've never been a fan of my base model grey interior. It just didn't flow well with the black leather. I had though about having it painted piano black, or replace it with genuine CF, but for the time being the CF vinyl was a quicker and cheaper alternative.

I used the 3M 1080 Gloss Carbon Fiber Vinyl. I'm quite impressed with the look of it. Not too "fake" looking, though I know it looks completely different from genuine CF, it is still better than the matte vinyl.

^The glossy finish is nice looking

^As everyone says, this piece was a bit tricky around the shift gate, but with enough patience it wasn't an issue.

I just took some better pics of the completed pieces... my battery packs for my lighting were charging last night so I couldn't get very many photos in the dark garage. Don't mind the dirty floor mats. :D

I'm very happy with it, hopefully it'll last a while, and the good news is it is removable if I decide I want to change it up.

So far so good for the first (of hopefully many) Winter projects.

Looks good! I was planning on doing this either this winter or in the spring. How much carbon fiber paper did you need (sizes?)

I bought the 60"x20" roll and I used maybe 60% of it to do the center console and the 4 door switch covers.

Hey where did you get that CF gloss wrap from? is there a link?

NYCIS350 Dec 18, 2012 05:56 AM

nice clean install...did you use hot glue or what kind of adhesive

zmcgovern4 Dec 18, 2012 06:23 AM

Thanks guys! I'm very happy with it. I've posted a link to the eBay seller where I purchased it, they were great, took less than 3 days to show up at my door (I think they're in Texas). I've also included a link to their website where they emailed me a 10% off coupon, it looks like a generic coupon so I'm sure many people can use it.

I used the 3M 1080 CF Vinyl. They make just about ever color you can think of if CF isn't the look you are going for. I bought the 60"x20" sheet from eBay and used just over 1/2 of it.

The vinyl has adhesive on the back. Just peel off the backing material and it is VERY sticky.

Looks great for a wrap. The key to making it look great is making sure the cupholder and console line up nicely. Good Job! Have you ever thought about doing the steering controls?

@amok727 Do you have anymore photos of your interior? Tan with Carbon Interior is so rare - I only know of you, me, and PlacidBoi.
