Did you have your paint crack on fender rolling?

I went to a body shop yesterday to get a quote on rolling my fenders. They told me that they dont heat the paint and that the paint cracks most of the time. Is this correct? Who has had their paint crack?

lol are they serious? all the fender rollers i know of always heat the paint so that it wont crack. How much did they quote you? you should find a place that will do it the right way.

I watched my friend's WRX get his fender rolled. It was done by someone well known on BMW forums and subaru forums. He Heated the fenders before rolling and the end result was amazing. No paint cracks.

I have the name at the house, but its across the street from Southern Polytechnic State University. Can anyone recommend me a place in the Atlanta, GA. area please.

Anyone doing rolling service known that the fender have to be heated before roll. Look like they don't know what they are dealing with.

I read the title and was like, wtf? My fenders have been rolled on several of my cars by a good friend and he always does a fantastic job. I feel bad for whoever goes to that shop for anything. If they can't even roll fenders then god knows what else they can't do.

ThreeFive0 12-08-12 09:02 PM

Yeah, I wont be going back. Can anyone recommend a good shop in the Atlanta, GA?

CalitriSC 12-08-12 10:20 PM

Wow this is an actual body shop that told you this? Its pretty much common knowledge that you need a heat gun when rolling the fenders.

heating not only help prevent paint cracking, it also help soften the metal so it can fold easier.
