IS350 f sport or IS250 f sport

IS350. Its like 2.5 seconds faster 0-60 than the IS250. You will also be able to toast most cars on the road besides maybe a BMW 335i, Corvette, and IS-F. Be warned, your gas mileage will suck because its so powerful that it makes you want to step on the gas. But it's worth it.

coming from someone who did the complete opposite (went from a 350 to a 250), unless your a big speed demon then the 250 is a better choice. Hands down. You will save a lot of money.
However if you are someone who likes to brag about how fast your car is and like racing (nothing wrong with that) I would definitely recommend the 350.
And for those who keep saying gas mileage is only 1-2mpg difference, that is NOT true.

I used to get about 380 miles out of my 250 before the low fuel light would come on(I fill up at that point), with my 350 i get 340-350 miles before the low fuel light. Average amount of gas I put in to fill up both was right at 14.5 gallons.
So IMO 40 extra miles on the same a mount of fuel is not a huge cost savings.
On a highway trip in my 250, I could average almost 33mpg. A highway trip in my 350 gets me 30mpg.
And best of all, when I press the gas pedal... the car actually moves out of the 80 year old in the wheelchairs way.

Thanks for the help. I like the 350 and 250 both! I will say im 32 and im not a hot rodder nor street racer lol however i do enjoy the power. My is300 was quick but i always felt like it could be even quicker. I do a lot of city driving. I assume i can drive the 350 without having to always gas it right? I like the fact i can get the 11 350 over the 08 ISF for my price range. I said i wouldn't spend over 35k and i like the fact i would have a warranty on the new 350. I also wanted to say from 70k to 145 on my Lexus i never had it to the shop not even once! I kid you not best car i've owned. I only had a front right caliper go bad on me *which i fixed* and factory battery go bad. I didn't even do the 90k tune up and it still ran good till the day it was gone. That's why i want another

It is true for me. My mixed driving tank avg is right at 24mpg usually. With my 250 is was 27mpg average.

Could it be done ? sure. But for you to pull of any kind of high MPG numbers with a 350 you ARE the 80 year old in the wheel chair.
Difference is I can consistently dog my 250 and still average high MPG.
Also I suspect your IS250 had some issues or maybe the climate where you live had something to do with it. My tank avg on a highway trip is consistant 36-37mpg. And my 350 about 28.
Not saying that he shouldnt get a 350 because he is going to spend ALOT more money on gas, but the notion behind the 350 and 250 sharing similar MPG numbers is simply not correct.

I always told myself that I would go with the more powerful model in my next car, so I test drove an 08 ISF and absolutely loved it. Then on the test drive it dawned on me...noVA rush hour traffic and poor gas mileage just doesn't cut it. I settled for a '10 350 and absolutely love it. It has just the right amount of power to keep a smile on your face.
I average 22-24 mpg with mixed city/hwy driving (mostly rush hour). Coming from a Grand Cherokee as a daily, the extra power is sooooo much nicer.

And the hwy mpg I stated for my 350 is driving avg 70mph+.... recent example is a beach trip I made the end of September.

Well, no I wasnt trying to say they have similar numbers, but on average a 250 will average about 3-4mpg more than a 350. Not enough to warrant getting the 250 simply for mpg IMO.

Absolutely not, and I didn't get a 250 over a 350 because of gas. I already owned a 350 and I made a choice that goes well with my style of driving.
People are always saying, you might as well get a 350 because its the same price/gas mileage, and that's absolutely not true (new cars).
The price difference is easily $5K ($100 in payment) and gas mileage is not the same. If you like speed the added cost WILL be worth it, if you aren't into speed then the 350 isn't worth it. That's my point.

Using 0 to 10% throttle with the IS350 will allow you to keep pace with 97% of the vehicles on the road that are daily driving under partial throttle conditions.
With the IS250, I feel like I constantly have to use between 50% and 75% throttle to "keep pace" with the cars in front of me.
With the IS250 say I'm second in line at a traffic light on a 60 MPH freeway. Light turns green. Car in front of me accelerates at partial throttle. With the IS250, I start off accelerating with 50% throttle and quickly realize it's not quite enough to keep pace with the car in front of me. So I'll increase it slowly to 75% throttle and realize I'm almost there but I still need a bit more power to keep up. So I'll inevitably mash the pedal and go full WOT. Now the IS250 keeps up and starts gaining a little bit on the car in front. I only go WOT for a fraction of a second or so, just enough to build up my speed to the point where I'm cruising and can comfortably keep pace and stay behind the person in front of me at regular cruising speeds.
I don't like having to do what I described above. I'm forced to dip more into the throttle (and even briefly go WOT) with the IS250 for daily driving just to "keep pace" with other cars. Do I have to keep pace with these cars? No, I suppose not. I suppose I could always stick to 30-40% throttle at all times regardless of what the car in front of me does, but I don't like doing that. I like being able to exactly keep pace with whatever the cars in front of me are doing.
With the IS350, it's so easy to keep pace with any car in a daily driving situation using no more than 10% throttle. 10% throttle will allow the IS350 to out-accelerate 97% of other cars going "partial throttle" for daily driving purposes, and I love that. It makes me feel more at ease. I never have to dip into the throttle or go WOT to keep up (unless I'm chasing a high powered sports car going WOT in which case I would practically be racing and the situation isn't really applicable to what I've described so far).
It's funny, I've even had teenagers in slow cars at traffic lights think I'm trying to race them in my IS350 just because I give 10% throttle at the light and my IS350 at 10% throttle is faster than their BMW 318i at WOT, for example.
Point is, even though I don't use WOT in the IS350, I like the extra power because it narrows the pedal depression range within which daily driving is comfortable for me (0 to 10%).

I came from and 07 is350 and just traded into an 11' is350 F-Sport...and believe me I noticed a huge difference in every aspect of the the car. Besides the obvious exterior cues, you can feel the difference in the driving mechanics. What a different car all together, everything just seems to feel tight and taught, the seats are phenomenal...even little things like the all black headliner can make a big difference in how you feel inside the car. F-sport just made me feel like I was sitting inside something special and unique. Where I live almost all the IS's are 250's...it's nice to have something a little different ...get whatever tugs at your heart-strings the most an you'll be just fine.

If you are not in dire need of a vehicle, I would definitely wait a little and see if you like the next gen IS350. If so, then you can get a new one. If not, you should be able to pick up a current gen for even less. Just a thought...
