Proper DIY tire rotation??
Hey guys,
I want my tires to tread evenly. What do you think is the proper way to do a tire rotation for the AWD is250?
I'm thinking:
Cross the Front tires left to right on the way to rear.
Rear tires stay on same side moving to the front.
Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I always wondered how this is done, since the rear tires are significantly wider than the front. It wouldn't make sense to swap front/rear on the same side right? Should the tires be non-directional, it can be swapped left/right correct? Thanks

OEM AWD models have the same tire dimensions front and rear. RWD models have wider rear tires. If you have RWD model with directional tires, tire rotation is not possible.
If you have AWD model with directional tires, only front to rear rotation is possible.
If you have AWD model with non-directional tires, left to right and front to rear rotation is possible.
Do they even sell non-directional low profile tires?

I was taught by my automotive mechanic teachers that for AWD, you can only rotate them front to back, just like zen said.
For RWD or FWD is the front wheels go straight to the back and the backs come to the front but inverted (right is on the left, vice versa).
And depends on directional tires like what evogt500 mentioned too.

Yup, at one point in time, they were the the same but now it's staggered.
As per cross-rotation, even if it was directional or not for RWD, it would be up to the discretion of the tire tech of it's feasible and able to be crossed/flipped depending on the tire.
